Taxonomy
Proetus vicinus was named by Barrande (1872). It is the type species of Cornuproetus (Vicinoproetus).
It was recombined as Cornuproetus (Vicinoproetus) vicinus by Alberti (1967); it was recombined as Vicinoproetus vicinus by Bault et al. (2021).
