Elotherium lentus was named by Marsh (1871).

It was recombined as Helohyus lentus by Hay (1902), Gazin (1976), West (1984), Foss (2007).

Synonyms

Parahyus aberrans was named by Marsh (1894). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Helohyus lentus by Gazin (1955), Stucky (1998), Walsh (2000).
