Taxonomy
Proetus suborbitatus was named by Holzapfel (1895). Its type specimen is CEPH X13, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fretter, which is in a Givetian marine limestone/reef rocks in the Massenkalk Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Gerastos suborbitatus by Basse (1996).
