Taxonomy
Equitatilepis elongatus was named by Pant and Basu (1977). It is not extant. Its type locality is Nidhpuri, which is in a Triassic fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Nidhpuri Formation of India. It is the type species of Equitatilepis.
