Taxonomy
Schizoproetus plettenbergensis was named by Basse (1997). Its type specimen is 967-25-51, a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Plettenberg I. Pingen am SE-Hang des Dörnbergs, which is in an Eifelian carbonate limestone in the Hobracke Formation of Germany.
