Glossopteris nakkarea was named by Chandra and Surange (1979). It is not extant. Its type locality is Karanpura, which is in the Artinskian/Kungurian of horizon the Barakar Formation India.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Glossopteris nakkarea by Chandra and Tewari (1991).
