Taxonomy
Volganella extensis was named by Voronkova (2014). Its type specimen is NVNIIGG, no. 09/04, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zhukov gully, Gorokhovets, which is in a Changhsingian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Vyazniki Formation of the Russian Federation.
