Ptychocarpus srivastavae was named by Surange (1966). It is not extant. Its type locality is Raniganj, which is in a Wordian/Lopingian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Raniganj Formation of India.
It was recombined as Leleopteris srivastavae by Srivastava and Chandra (1982), Chandra and Tewari (1991).
