Hyracodon leidyanus
Taxonomy
Hyracodon leidyanus was named by Troxell (1921). Its type specimen is YPM 11168, a partial skull (a maxillary and ramus with tooth series P1 to M2 and p2 to m1, inclusive.), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Crow Buttes (Whitney-South Dakota), which is in a Whitneyan terrestrial horizon in South Dakota.
It was synonymized subjectively with Hyracodon nebraskensis by Scott (1941), Galbreath (1953).
