Taxonomy
Aratidecthes johnsoni was named by Schram (1969). It is not extant. Its type locality is Garrard Quarry, levels 5 and 6, Mecca fauna, which is in a Moscovian marginal marine shale in the Staunton Formation of Indiana. It is the type species of Aratidecthes.
