Eucryptocaris asherorum was named by Schram (1989). It is not extant. Its type specimen is FMNH P51405. Its type locality is Area 3, Pit 11, Peabody Coal Company, which is in a Moscovian marine shale in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois.
