Granatocrinus rofii was named by Etheridge and Carpenter (1882).
It was recombined as Schizoblastus rofei by Etheridge and Carpenter (1886); it was synonymized subjectively with Mesoblastus angulatus by Macurda (1967); it was recombined as Monoschizoblastus rofei by Bassler and Moodey (1943), Bauer (2018).
