Kalobatippus avus
Taxonomy
Hypohippus avus was named by Schlaikjer (1935). Its type specimen is MCZ 2811, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fox Creek Gap, which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in the Harrison Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Anchitherium avus by Stirton (1940); it was recombined as Kalobatippus avus by MacFadden (1998) and MacFadden (2001).
