Buccaspinea cooperi was named by Pates et al. (2021). It is a compression preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Kells Knolls, House Range, which is in a Drumian offshore mudstone/limestone in the Marjum Formation of Utah. It is the type species of Buccaspinea.
