Mcdonaldocnus villarroeli
Discussion
Largely following Brandoni et al. (2019), we recognise material assigned to Xyophorus bondesioi, Xyophorus villarroeli and Xyophorus sp. as pertaining to a new nothrotheriid genus, Mcdonaldocnus.
Taxonomy
Mcdonaldocnus villarroeli was named by Gaudin et al. (2022). Its type specimen is MNHN.F ACH 43, a mandible (partial right mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized objectively with Mcdonaldocnus bondesioi by Gaudin et al. (2022).
