Caviocricetus guenekko
Taxonomy
Caviocricetus guenekko was named by McGrath et al. (2023) [Diagnosis. Smaller than the type species, Caviocricetus lucasi. Anteroloph of DP4 and M1 better-developed and more transversely oriented than in C. lucasi, more similar to Acarechimys, Dudumus and Galileomys. M1 protocone wider than in C. lucasi, producing a narrower hypoflexus that is more similar to other stem-octodontoids. LSID. https://zoobank.org/NomenclaturalActs/C7772C29-C2424892-8373-BCB0A1D17AC5]. Its type specimen is SGOPV 2194, a maxilla (maxillary fragment bearing right DP4M1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pampa Castillo, which is in a Burdigalian fluvial sandstone/siltstone in the Galera Formation of Chile.
