Taxonomy
Carbonilepis uruguayensis was named by Beltan (1977). Its type specimen is GPIT 1463a-b, a partial skeleton (Head lacking anterior part, and anterior part of body), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Carbonilepis.
