Taxonomy
Limnoecus niobrarensis was named by Macdonald (1947). Its type locality is Fort Niobrara, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Valentine Formation of Nebraska.
It was synonymized subjectively with Limnoecus tricuspis by James (1963).
