Taxonomy
Podocarpidites rectangularis was named by De Benedetti et al. (2023). Its type specimen is MPEF-PA 817, a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Bosta (CBO) (Paleobotany), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine siltstone in the La Colonia Formation of Argentina.

F. De Benedetti et al. 2023Pollen grain bisaccate, diploxylonoid. Corpus subrectangular to elliptical in polar and equatorial view, with major axis along grain length. Corpus exine up to 2 μm thick, columellate, tectum psilate to perforate. Sacci about the same width and half in length than the corpus, with an irregular intrareticulum. Leptoma large.
