Derivation of name. L. imaguncula, a copy. With reference to the general similarity of this species to the type of the genus, Paracypris polita Sars.

Taxonomy
Paracypris imaguncula was named by Ceolin et al. (2015). Its type specimen is LM-FCEN 3242, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Azul CA 31, which is in a Danian marine siltstone in the Jagüel Formation of Argentina.
