Derivation of name. L. verrucosus, full of warts, many warts. With reference to the many wart-like protuberances on the surface of this species.
Taxonomy
Hemingwayella verrucosus was named by Ceolin et al. (2015). Its type specimen is LM-FCEN 3308, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Azul CA 21, which is in a Danian marine siltstone in the Jagüel Formation of Argentina.
