Derivation of name. L. trajectiones, a crossing over, part way of passage of something, trajectory. With reference to the fact that this species crosses the CretaceousTertiary boundary.

Taxonomy
Cythereis trajectiones was named by Ceolin et al. (2015). Its type specimen is LM-FCEN 3470, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Azul CA 17, which is in a Danian marine siltstone in the Jagüel Formation of Argentina.
