Taxonomy
Allenocytheridea lobulata was named by Ballent (1980). Its type specimen is Allenocytheridea lobulata, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lago Pellegrini (level 21-I), which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian marginal marine sandstone/gypsum in the Allen Formation of Argentina.
It was recombined as Fossocytheridea lobulata by Carignano (2012).
