Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
E. A. Musacchio 1973Smooth, large, ovoid-shaped shell. Contour in subovate lateral view; dorsal edge barely protruding at the top medium but rounded and then slightly inclining backwards and moderately forward; the rest of the contour remains rounded, very widely on the ventral edge and somewhat more narrowly on the anterior edge. Hinge area externally denoted in a faint groove, coinciding with the part of the dorsal edge that slopes backwards, left valve greater than right valve, without coverage only in the part of the hinge; external margin of the left valve somewhat separated from the right valve in the anteroventral and more slightly separated in the posteroventral part. Contour in dorsal view with the greatest width in the middle posterior part, sub-ovate, somewhat flattened and with non-acute ends, (especially
the later). In this view the external margin of the left valve is sinuous, denoting greater coverage over the right valve in front of the angle cardinal anterior and posteriorly.
