Taxonomy
Veenia punctata was named by Bertels (1968). Its type specimen is FCEN-LM 209 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Huantraico (CP-11), which is in a Maastrichtian/Danian marine claystone in the Huantraico Formation of Argentina.
It was recombined as Veenia (Nigeria) punctata by Bertels (1968), Bertels (1975).
