Aurimys xeros
Taxonomy
Aurimys xeros was named by Samuels et al. (2023) [UNSM 27016, associated skull, left dentary, partial pes (3 incomplete metatarsals and 2 proximal phalanges), 2 caudal vertebrae]. Its type specimen is UNSM 27016, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP V6432, which is in an Arikareean/Miocene terrestrial sandstone in the John Day Formation of Oregon. It is the type species of Aurimys.
