Balantiomys coloradensis
Discussion
Largest species of the genus; crownheight similar to that of Balantiomys nebraskensis Korth, 1997 (p4: ht/W 0.33; m1: ht/W 0.36), lower than B. borealis (Storer 1970), higher the Balantiomys oregonensis (Gazin, 1932); protocone on P4 ovate as in B. oregonensis.
Taxonomy
Balantiomys coloradensis was named by Korth and Kron (2020). Its type specimen is UCM 52126, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil.
