Machaeroides simpsoni

Taxonomy
Machaeroides simpsoni was named by Dawson et al. (1986). Its type specimen is CM 45115, a partial skull (fragments of a skull includin4 parts of the palate, with incisors, canines, right P1-M2 and left P4-M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is K-7W, which is in a Lostcabinian terrestrial horizon in the Wind River Formation of Wyoming.

M. R. Dawson et al. 1986Differs from M. eothen in having P2 more obliquely oriented, P3 two-rooted with weaker pro- tocone, M2 more robust. Enamel on anterior and posterior ridges of upper canine and crests of cheek teeth serrated. Jaw more vertical at symphysis. P4 protoconid inclined slightly more posteriorly.
