Taxonomy
Pycnolepas bruennichi was named by Withers (1914). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sample M2, Fakse Quarry, which is in a Danian basin reef bafflestone in Denmark. It is the type species of Faxelepas.
It was recombined as Faxelepas bruennichi by Gale and Vidovic (2023).
