Taxonomy
Entomolestes nitens was named by Matthew (1918) [also, but incorrectly said to be 1909].

It was recombined as Scenopagus nitens by Robinson (1968) and Butler (1972); it was recombined as Macrocranion nitens by Krishtalka (1976), Krishtalka and West (1977), Smith et al. (2002).
