Taxonomy
Bernaya kaylinae was named by Groves and Squires (2023). Its type specimen is LACMIP 40374.80, LACMIP Type 14938 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CSUN Loc. 374, Las Llajas Canyon, which is in a Lutetian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Llajas Formation of California.
