Ustatochoerus tedfordi

Taxonomy
Ustatochoerus tedfordi was named by Stevens et al. (2023). Its type specimen is F:AM 24439, a partial skull (skull and jaws ), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Warren Barnum Ranch, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Runningwater Formation of Nebraska.

Stevens et al. 2023Small species of Ustatochoerus (M1-3 length = 90.9 mm, P1-M3 length = 40.1 mm, m1-3 length = 59.1 mm, p1-m3 length = 102 mm) with slightly retracted nasals, a long external narial opening, small facial vacuities, a relatively deep malar, delicate zygomatic arches, a wide, fan-shaped occipital region, and moderately hypsodont teeth with molarized premolars. Distinguished from U. medius by its smaller size, slightly longer nasal length relative to size, and less flaring occiput.
