Taxonomy
Caligodinium perforatum was named by Guler et al. (2005). Its type specimen is 3427(2): 101/25.5, an other (cyst), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Estancia 25 de Mayo (VG6), which is in a Maastrichtian coastal sandstone/mudstone in the Calafate Formation of Argentina.
