Pirabacarcinus iara

Taxonomy
Pirabacarcinus iara was named by Lima et al. (2024). Its type specimen is MCT.I.7247 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Colonia Pedro Teixeira, which is in a Miocene coastal horizon in the Pirabas Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Pirabacarcinus.

margin longer than posterolateral margin, with three blunt spines
anteriorly upturned; carapace regions well-defined; epigastric, protogastric
regions distinctly swollen; mesogastric region with a distinct
cervical elongation, reaching basal portion of epigastric lobes; urogastric
region depressed; epibranchial region divided in two lobes; metagastric
region not discernible; posterior region of carapace, including
metabranchial and intestinal regions sloped, metabranchial region
without lobes, intestinal region reduced, faintly delimited.
