Taxonomy
Symphylurinopsis punctatus was named by Sánchez-García et al. (2023). Its type specimen is Morone M-2232, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Morone Amber Collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic. It is the type species of Symphylurinopsis.
