Merycodus necatus

Taxonomy
Merycodus necatus was named by Leidy (1854) [genotype]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is South Bijou Hill, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial claystone in the Fort Randall Formation of South Dakota. It is the type species of Merycodus.

It was recombined as Dicrocerus necatus by Cope (1875), Cope (1875) and Cope (1877); it was considered a nomen dubium by Frick (1937).
