Taxonomy
Cancer (Metacarcinus) starri was named by Berglund and Goedert (1996). Its type specimen is UWBM 92012, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UWBM B6133, which is in a Miocene deep subtidal shelf horizon in the Clallam Formation of Washington.
It was recombined as Metacarcinus starri by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
