Echimonocolpites acus was named by Christopher and Prowell (2010). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide FLO-274@503.0’ (1); coordinates 13.6 x 152.1; Fig. 13A, B., a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil.

Prowell 2010A species of Echimonocolpites with dimensions of 28–39 µm by 17–24 µm, and with randomly distributed spines 1–2 µm in length and 0.5–1 µm in basal diameter; spines thin gradually toward their distal extremity to form long, slender, commonly recurved spines with concave sides, and with a row of stout, rod-shaped or conical elements bordering the colpus.
