Taxonomy
Pithonoton (Cycloprosopon) typicum was named by Lorenthey (1929). It is not extant. It is the type species of Cycloprosopon.

It was recombined as Cycloprosopon typicum by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2012).
