Miohippus grandis
Taxonomy
Mesohippus grandis was named by Clark and Beerbower (1967). Its type locality is Peanut Peak, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Chadron Formation of South Dakota.
It was synonymized subjectively with Miohippus assiniboiensis by Prothero and Shubin (1989); it was recombined as Miohippus grandis by Storer and Bryant (1993).
