Litoricola dentata was named by Woodward (1873). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Portsmouth dockyard extension, which is in an Eocene marine horizon in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Coeloma dentatum by Schweitzer et al. (2010); it was recombined as Coeloma dentata by Schweitzer et al. (2021).
