Taxonomy
Miotapirus harrisonensis was named by Schlaikjer (1937) [genotype]. Its type locality is Parahippus Level, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Marsland Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Miotapirus.
