Taxonomy
Nodoprosopon bellaii was named by Crônier and Boursicot (2009). Its type specimen is MBe0302 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is La Case Denier, Méron, which is in a Callovian shallow subtidal limestone in France.
It was recombined as Abyssophthalmus bellaii by Chény et al. (2023).
