Taxonomy

Murex calamitus was named by Hanna (1924).

It was recombined as Trophon calamitus by Effinger (1938).

Sister species lacking formal opinion data

T. umzambiensis, T. tropica

Synonyms

Murex vaughani was named by Dickerson (1917). Its type specimen is CAS 412 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was replaced with Murex calamitus by Hanna (1924).
