Phacops (Reedops) platilegnotor was named by Alberti (1970). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Limestone Horizons of Megrane Shale, Jebel Megrane, Hercynian Massif, Morocco, which is in a Pragian marine shale/limestone in the Megrane Shale Formation of Morocco.
It was recombined as Reedops platilegnotor by Lemke (2020).
