Neotoma spelaea
Taxonomy
Parahodomys spelaeus was named by Gidley and Gazin (1933) [genotype]. Its type specimen is USNM 12040, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cumberland Cave, which is in an Irvingtonian cave horizon in Maryland.
It was recombined as Neotoma spelaea by Kurten and Anderson (1980), Zakrzewski (1993), Eshelman et al. (2025).
