Asaphus hausmanni was named by Brongniart (1822) [Originally capitalized as Asaphus Hausmanni].

It was recombined as Odontochile (Odontochile) hausmanni by Pek and Vanek (1989); it was recombined as Odontochile hausmani by Johnson and Fortey (2012); it was recombined as Odontochile hausmanni by Chlupac (1983), Budil et al. (2008), Budil et al. (2009), Bault et al. (2021).
