Taxonomy
Metacanthina maderensis was named by Morzadec (2001). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jbel Issoumour, which is in a Pragian marine mudstone in the Ihandar Formation of Morocco. It is the type species of Platykardiapyge.
It was recombined as Platykardiapyge maderensis by Van Viersen and Kloc (2022).
