Taxonomy
Tropidopyge alveus was named by Fortey (1974). Its type specimen is PMO NF 487, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Hypermecaspis alveus by Ebbestad (1999), Monti et al. (2022).
