Taxonomy
Dolomys minor was named by Kretzoi (1955) [originally named as O. idahoensis minor by R Wilson 1933; moved with that species to Pliopotamys by Hibbard 1941b].

It was synonymized subjectively with Pliopotamys idahoensis by Hibbard (1956) and Hibbard (1957); it was recombined as Pliopotamys minor by Hibbard (1959), Zakrzewski (1969), Kurten and Anderson (1980), Martin (1993); it was synonymized subjectively with Ondatra zibethicus by Martin (1993); it was recombined as Ondatra minor by Martin (1996).
